With its vast pasture resources, Inner Mongolia is focusing on the development of Inner Mongolian brands involving sheep, cattle, milk, potatoes, corn, sunflowers, rice, grains, wool textiles and others.

As a result, it boasts many leading names, such as dairy brands Yili and Mengniu, cardigan brand Erdos, as well as Horqin Fat Cattle and the Ulanqab Potato.

In 2019, the total grain output of Inner Mongolia was 36.53 million tons, an increase of 2.8 percent over the previous year and the output of oilseeds was 2.29 million tons, an increase of 13.5 percent year-on-year.

The total meat output for the year was 2.65 million tons, a decrease of 1.0 percent over the previous year. Of that, pork output was 626,000 tons, a decrease of 12.9 percent; beef output was 638,000 tons, an increase of 3.8 percent; mutton output was 1.10 million tons, an increase of 3.2 percent and poultry meat output was 207,000 tons, an increase of 5.1 percent.

By the end of 2019, there were 71.92 million head of livestock in Inner Mongolia, a decrease of 1.2 percent over the previous year. Of that, the number of pigs was 4.30 million, a decrease of 13.6 percent; the number of cattle was 6.26 million, an increase of 1.6 percent; and the number of sheep was 59.76 million, a decrease of 0.4 percent.
