North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently launched the Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese and Mongolian Medicine.

The document proposes that Inner Mongolia should effectively strengthen the construction of traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicine institutions and improve the modern hospital management system to reflect the characteristics of Chinese and Mongolian medicines.

It also advised Inner Mongolia to lay a solid foundation for grassroots Chinese and Mongolia medicine services and enhance the system for traditional Chinese and Mongolian medical services.

According to the document, by 2022, Inner Mongolia will basically achieve full coverage of traditional Chinese or Mongolian medical institutions at the banner and county levels.

It will strive to ensure that all community health service centers and township hospitals have traditional Chinese medicine or Mongolian medicine clinics, and that all community health service stations and more than 80 percent of the autonomous region’s village clinics provide traditional Chinese or Mongolia medical services.

Meanwhile, by 2022, Inner Mongolia will form and promote more than 30 diagnosis and treatment plans for dominant diseases using traditional Chinese or Mongolian medicines. It will also launch at least 50 appropriate technologies to further enhance the ability of traditional Chinese or Mongolian medicines to provide rehabilitation services.

Additionally, the document stresses that Inner Mongolia should collect and organize folk prescriptions, secret recipes and the characteristic diagnosis and treatment techniques of traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicines. It should establish a database of medical records of famous experts and strengthen scientific research into traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicines to promote the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicines.
