Inner Mongolia athletes win big at National Biathlon Invitation

Athletes from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region won eight championships at the National Biathlon Invitational, which was held in Baiyin city, Northwest China's Gansu Province, on Feb 3-25.

The tournament planned 11 competitions for men and women, and attracted 127 athletes from 10 teams from various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country to participate.

Inner Mongolia sent 25 athletes to compete in the 11 competitions, and they went on to win eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals.

At this national championship, the Inner Mongolia biathlon team achieved its best results since its establishment.

In the women's competitions, Yang Lianhong, Zheng Dongxue, Ding Yuhuan, and Li Haorong, all athletes from Inner Mongolia, performed well. They all won gold medals in their individual events. They also teamed up to compete in the women's 4×6 km relay, winning first place.

In the men's competitions, athlete Gu Cang from Inner Mongolia won first place in the 15-km group start event and second place in the 10-km short-distance event. Another athlete, Hu Weiyao, won second place in the 20-km individual event.

The Inner Mongolia men's relay team consisted of Gu Cang, Hu Weiyao, Shi Yuanyuan and Song Chen. They competed in the 4×7.5km event and won another gold medal for the region.

On the last day of the mixed relay competition, Inner Mongolia won first place by forming a team consisting of Ding Yuhuan, Li Haorong, Gu Cang and Hu Weiyao.
