China to support Inner Mongolia in developing new quality productive forces
The National Development and Reform Commission, along with other national departments, has recently put forward several measures to support Inner Mongolia autonomous region in developing new quality productive forces, with a distinct emphasis on green and low-carbon characteristics.
The measures include supporting Inner Mongolia in accelerating the green, low-carbon transformation of energy, constructing a modern industrial system with green, low-carbon characteristics, promoting green development in key areas, strengthening green, low-carbon technological innovation, and enhancing its comprehensive regional opening up and cooperation efforts.
In accelerating the green, low-carbon transformation of energy, the central government will support Inner Mongolia in intensifying the development of new energy, promoting environmentally friendly and efficient utilization of coal, accelerating the sustainable development and utilization of oil and gas resources, and enhancing the construction of power grid infrastructure.
Other measures involve advancing comprehensive demonstrations of smart grids and innovating the system and mechanisms for green, low-carbon energy development.
Meanwhile, in the construction of a green, low-carbon modern industrial system, the central government will support Inner Mongolia in expediting the transformation and upgrading of industrial structures, promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and accelerating the development of new energy industries.
In promoting green development in key areas, the central government will support Inner Mongolia in achieving carbon dioxide emission peaking and carbon neutrality.
The measures will also involve strengthening resource conservation, developing a circular economy, improving green construction efforts in urban and rural areas, and accelerating the green, low-carbon transformation of the transportation sector.
Moreover, the central government will support Inner Mongolia in enhancing its scientific and technological innovation capabilities; promoting the application of green, low-carbon technology demonstrations; and strengthening talent cultivation in the field of green and low-carbon development.
The central government will also support Inner Mongolia in strengthening its desertification control and promoting the construction of key ecological projects, such as the "Three-North" Shelterbelt Program.
Other measures involve innovating ecological protection and restoration models, consolidating and enhancing the carbon sequestration capacity of ecosystems, continuously improving air quality, strengthening water ecological protection and water pollution control, and promoting soil pollution prevention and control processes as well as solid waste management.
