Inner Mongolia leads nation in 2 energy economic indicators in Q1

The latest statistics from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Department of Statistics reveal that in the first quarter of 2024, the region's industrial enterprises above a designated size topped the nation in both raw coal production and electricity generation.

These enterprises yielded 320 million metric tons of raw coal in the first quarter, securing the top spot nationwide. The output saw a 2.9 percent year-on-year increase, accelerating by 1.2 percentage points compared to January and February. Notably, March witnessed a record monthly production of 120 million tons, marking a 6.1 percent year-on-year growth.

Meanwhile, they produced 1,950.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first quarter, leading the country in this respect. The electricity output exhibited a 12.3 percent year-on-year growth, with a 3.1-percentage-point increase compared to the same period last year.

The enterprises saw a 12.3 percent year-on-year growth in thermal power generation and a 12.8 percent increase in new energy generation.

Within the new energy category, wind power generation reached 37.21 billion kWh, a 12.9 percent year-on-year growth, while solar power generation reached 4.99 billion kWh, a 12.6 percent increase.
