Zhuengadabuqi Port coal storage base commences operations
A convoy of coal-laden trucks from Mongolia passed through customs and entered the No 1 storage warehouse at Zhuengadabuqi Port's new million-metric-ton coal storage base on Nov 18.
This marks the arrival of the first batch of Mongolian coal and signifies the official launch of the coal storage base's first phase of operations.
The storage base, constructed and operated by Dong Ujimchin Banner Jidian National Storage Energy Co, is located in Xiliin Gol League in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It is the largest customs-supervised coal storage facility under construction at Zhuengadabuqi Port.
The facility, which spans 360,000 square meters, includes four fully enclosed warehouses, each with a static storage capacity of 500,000 tons, a regulated yard capable of holding 600 containers, and associated infrastructure.
The facility's initial phase, which is now operational, features two fully enclosed warehouses with a combined static storage capacity of 250,000 tons and a regulated yard.
Construction of the first phase began on Sept 26, 2023, and the facility was registered as a customs-supervised storage enterprise on Nov 15, 2023.
Construction of the project's second phase commenced on Aug 30, 2024. It is 80 percent complete and expected to be operational by June 2025.
The company aims to prioritize coal supply for power generation and public welfare by utilizing the port's robust road and rail logistics channels. The goal is to develop a high-quality, efficient coal storage base, thereby enhancing the port's role as a key energy hub and new focal point in Northeast China.
