Inner Mongolia's athletes to shine at Asian Winter Games

Ten athletes from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will represent China at the 9th Asian Winter Games, which will take place in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, from Feb 7 to 14.

These athletes – Han Mei, Xu Meng, Li Zhichao, Bao Lin, Hu Weiyao, Gu Cang, Gou Zhendong, Song Chen, Yang Lianhong, and Chi Yanmin – will compete in four disciplines: speed skating, curling, cross-country skiing, and the biathlon.

Han Mei, one of China's top speed skaters, will compete in five events: the women's 1,000m, 1,500m, 3,000m, short-distance team pursuit, and team pursuit. Xu Meng will also compete in speed skating, participating in the women's 100m, 500m, and 1,000m events.

Li Zhichao will participate in men's curling. He was part of the Chinese team that won the 2024 Pan-Continental Curling Championships, marking China's first-ever victory.

Bao Lin, the men's 4×10 km relay champion at the 2024 National Winter Games, will compete in the cross-country skiing 10 km freestyle and 4×7.5 km relay.

Biathlon has long been a stronghold for Inner Mongolia. Six of the 12 Chinese biathletes competing in Harbin are from Inner Mongolia: Hu Weiyao, Gu Cang, Gou Zhendong, Song Chen, Yang Lianhong, and Chi Yanmin.
