Han Mei wins five medals at Asian Winter Games

On Feb 11, the final day of speed skating competitions at the Harbin Asian Winter Games, Inner Mongolian skater Han Mei claimed two more gold medals in the women's 1000m and women's team pursuit events. Han concluded her impressive journey at the Games on a high note with three gold and two silver medals.
In the women's 1000m race, Han Mei secured victory with a time of 1:15.85, edging out fellow Chinese skater Yin Qi, who finished 0.23 seconds behind to take silver.
Han, alongside teammates Yang Binyu and Ahenaer Adake, led the Chinese squad to gold in the women's team pursuit, defeating Japan by 2.77 seconds.

Han already demonstrated her strength on Feb 8, when she won gold in the women's 1500m speed skating event. She also earned silver medals in the women's 3000m and women's sprint team pursuit events.
Reflecting on her achievements, she expressed pride in the Chinese speed skating team's record-breaking performance at this year's Asian Winter Games. "This has been our best showing in history, and I want to congratulate all our athletes," she said in a post-race interview.
Han also expressed her joy at Inner Mongolia's growing enthusiasm for winter sports: "I am proud to be part of the development of ice and snow sports in Inner Mongolia, and I look forward to seeing more young athletes from my home region take up winter sports."
