The Urad Rear Banner in Bayannuur hosted the spectacular "Crossing Yinshan" trek on April 8, during which thousands of Gobi red camels journeyed across the vast Yinshan Mountains.
The event began with an immersive performance of Wang Zhaojun's Journey Beyond the Great Wall, staged by the Ulan Muqir art troupe. The show recreated the ancient Han Dynasty (206 BC-220) peace-making ceremony, offering visitors a chance to experience history brought to life.
Following the performance, the stars of the event–thousands of majestic red camels–transformed into "cultural guides" and set out alongside a convoy of over 100 off-road vehicles.
Departing from Jilu Pass, they traversed the scenic Harina Valley and crossed the Yinshan Mountains, eventually arriving at the lush Baorihantu Oasis Resort deep within the Urad grasslands.

"The sight of red camels crossing the mountains with a fleet of off-road vehicles was absolutely breathtaking," said Mr Zhang, a tourist from Hohhot.
Known as the "Hometown of Gobi Red Camels", Urad Rear Banner is home to over 50,000 of the iconic animals.
In recent years, the banner has embraced the cultural and economic value of red camels. Efforts include the development of a red camel industrial park, nine high-standard breeding bases, and a full industry chain producing camel milk, meat, wool, and cashmere.
Additionally, the banner promotes traditional sports such as camel polo and racing, further expanding the camel-themed cultural tourism industry.
"Through this unique journey, we aim to let visitors explore the cultural charm of Urad Rear Banner and feel the grandeur of the Yinshan Mountains," said the head of the local culture, sports, tourism, and broadcasting bureau.
