As temperatures gradually rise in spring, Jining district, Ulaanqab has become a temporary haven for flocks of migratory birds, including swans, ruddy shelducks, and grebes.

These birds are traveling northward from their wintering grounds in the south, with Miaowanzi Reservoir serving as a vital stopover for rest and replenishment. After regaining strength, they will continue their journey toward their northern breeding habitats.

In recent years, Jining district has been making continuous efforts to strengthen environmental protection. The improved conditions of local water bodies and surrounding environments have created ideal habitats for migratory birds to rest and forage.

Many birds now choose to stop at reservoirs such as Miaowanzi, Quanyuling, and Bawanghe during their migration, transforming these areas into lively and scenic habitats.

To ensure a safe passage for the birds, the Jining District Wetland Protection Center closely monitors the ecological conditions around the reservoirs and tracks bird activity in real time.

Upon spotting the flocks, staff members provide food to support their recovery. "With temperatures still low and natural food sources limited, feeding is crucial for the birds, especially after the energy demands of long-distance migration," explained a staff member.

The arrival of these birds is not only a sign of spring's return, but also a testament to the district's improving natural environment.
