A third party panel gave a thumbs-up to a show after they watched it at a local community on July 14.

Love to the Land (Dadi Qing), purchased by Taicang government, was staged by the home-grown Rongwen Shanghai opera troupe.

A panelist told the press that the performance was outstanding, and that they were satisfied with the setting, lighting and sound effects.

The panel comprised local art enthusiasts, lawmakers and political advisors. They were gathered by the local government to offer an unbiased opinion on whether the public money spent on art performance is worth it.

In recent years Taicang's cultural department has channeled millions of yuan into the arts to serve the public interests.

Since the beginning of 2015, the Taicang government has signed contracts with 11 art agencies, who will present 96 performances, including Shanghai opera, Shaoxing opera, Wuxi opera and modern stage plays in different areas of the city. The third-party appraisal will help standardize and guide the performance art in the city.
