The Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Taicang campus in Taicang, a county-level city administered by Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province, was inaugurated on Sept 5. 

Wu Qingwen, deputy Party chief and mayor of Suzhou, said at the inauguration ceremony that the Taicang campus will provide talent support for the development of the city's pillar industries. 

Xi Youmin, Party secretary and executive president of XJTLU, said at the ceremony that the Taicang campus will cultivate talents who are equipped with professional knowledge, industry insights, entrepreneurship and innovation capabilities. 

Wang Xiangyuan, Party chief of Taicang, said that the local government will provide assistance to the Taicang campus to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation. 

The XJTLU Yangtze River Delta National Technology Innovation Center Demonstration Base, the XJTLU Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Platform, and the XJTLU Global Entrepreneuring Dream-chaser Competition were also unveiled at the ceremony. 

Deals for three research centers, including The XJTLU Global Financial Market Research Center, were signed at the ceremony. 

The campus will establish seven schools that specialize in the following fields: intelligent manufacturing ecosystem, AI and advanced computing, intelligent finance and business, robots, internet of things, cultural technology, and chips. 

The campus will by 2025 supply at least 2,000 high-caliber talents with global perspectives and professional expertise to local enterprises every year. 

The campus will hold more than 8,000 enrolled students by 2026.
