The launching ceremony of the RCEP (Dalian) International Business District was recently successfully held in the Dalian Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) in Jinpu New Area.

The RCEP (Dalian) International Business District will facilitate regional economic cooperation between the DFTZ and other RCEP members and will make Jinpu a pacesetter for cooperation with northeastern Asian countries.

The district sits near the south gate of the DFTZ, covering an area of 32,000 square meters. As an economic and trade promotion center and a business service center for RCEP members, it will attract more enterprises and associations from RCEP members to settle in.

The district will launch into service this October to provide support with customs clearance, logistics, finance, and legal issues.

A few RCEP projects were also signed at the ceremony, including the Prime Planet Energy power battery R&D project and the Orix medical equipment bonded financial leasing project.

There are altogether 362 Japanese enterprises and 229 South Korean enterprises in the DFTZ, accounting for half of the zone's foreign enterprises. In 2021, the total value of foreign trade reached about 140 billion yuan ($2.1 billion), 36 percent of which came from RCEP members.
