On Tuesday, ten spotted seals were released into the sea in Dalian, Liaoning province, to celebrate Spotted Seal Awareness Day. Similar activities were carried out in various locations across the country.

Among the seals released in Dalian were four adults and four pups, which had been rescued and rehabilitated by the Liaoning Ocean and Fisheries Science Research Institute, and two pups bred in captivity from Dalian Sun Asia Ocean World.

According to the organizers, these released spotted seals have all undergone professional training to adapt to the wild and are now equipped with the necessary survival skills. Each seal has been fitted with a unique identification code to reduce the risk of recapture and trade, with eight of them also equipped with satellite tracking systems to support conservation and research efforts.

The Dalian Ocean Development Bureau, the Dalian Natural Resources Bureau and the aquatic wildlife conservation branch of the China Wildlife Conservation Association organized the Dalian event with guidance from the Bureau of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Liaoning Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
