The opening ceremony of Shanghai Dianji University industrial design center was held in Xindian town, Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Feb 16.

The center was organized by Shanghai Dianji University and Shanghai Bfit Co Ltd, aiming to coordinate industries and designs. Taking over Shanghai innovative resources, the center will enhance the capacity of industrial innovation and promote the transformation and economic upgrade in Rudong.

Chen Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Rudong County Committee said at the ceremony that Rudong, as a key place in Shanghai metropolitan area has worked with Shanghai in various programs, injecting new impetus into the county's innovative growth.

He noted that Shanghai Dianji University is renowned for its advanced theories and technologies, especially in the area of industrial design, stressing that the design center will have a profound influence in the brand building of Rudong's industrial companies.

Zhou Zhiyong, director of the Institute of Industrial Design, stated that the design center, managed by professional industrial design groups has six major parts including product exhibition center, and product upgrading, integrating and innovating center.

He said that the center will help companies build innovation systems and improve their brand image so as to promote the regional development and industrial upgrade.
