Rudong company grabs spotlight with overseas cable project
A construction firm in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province has implemented a submarine cable project on the island of Sandwip in Bangladesh, which gives islanders a source of power for the first time ever. It is the first underwater cable project in Bangladesh and will result in the installation of 30km of 33kV submarine cable.
Zhongtian Technology Group (ZTT) engaged in the project in September 2017 and began work in December the same year.
ZTT completed the program in March last year with the support of SBSS, a submarine cable construction company in China.
This is Bangladesh's first underwater power supply system using submarine cables.
Iqbal Karim, executive director of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), said that the success of the underwater cable project on Sandwip Island put the country on a path to expanding its national electric grid.
The project was part of ZTT's globalization efforts. With the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the company has been able to sell more products and services around the world.
The company currently has six factories in countries along the Belt and Road and its products have been sold to nearly 61 countries.
The company said it plans to speed up investment in overseas markets and build 10 overseas production centers, 20 branches, and 40 offices by 2025.
