The PetroChina Jiangsu Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Station, located at Yangkou Port in Rudong county, Nantong, recently received high praise from foreign partners for its quick unloading time amid the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

As an LNG ship from Qatar docked at the port, Chen Ruxia, a manager of PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Co, gave a detailed explanation on the recent virus outbreak in China and the measures that have been taken to control the epidemic.

“We know that the Chinese government has been taking measures to prevent and control the epidemic, and hope they can win the battle soon,” said Rodichev Sergey, a Russian captain on the ship.

When unloading LNG from the ship, the cargo pumps suddenly stopped working. Chen promptly asked workers in the control room to turn off the backflow blower and isolated the source of the failure. Unloading resumed after just 10 minutes. The prompt response won the praise of workers on the ship.

The station is the first of its kind to be put into operation by PetroChina. It has unloaded around 920,000 cubic meters of LNG and delivered over 400 million cu m in total since the Spring Festival.

Remarkably, the daily throughput of LNG has been as high as 32 million cu m per day for the past 11 days, in order to guarantee a stable supply to households in the Yangtze River Delta region and to downstream enterprises that have resumed production.
