The city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province recently had two scenic sites under its administration recognized as provincial tourism and leisure precincts by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Jiangsu Development & Reform Commission, according to the city's culture, radio, television and tourism bureau.
A total of 16 sites around the province were included on the list, with the two from Nantong being Nanshan Lake Water Street in Tongzhou district and the Dongdajie historic neighborhood in the county-level city of Rugao.
Situated in eastern Tongzhou, Nanshan Lake Water Street received an investment of 1 billion yuan ($156.7 million) and it has a floor space of 106,000 square meters. After two years of construction, the street opened in May 2019.
