Rafts of folks had a ball on Dec 12 – when they went along to check out a new shopping center called Grand Joy Plaza – located in the City North Hi-Tech Zone in Chongchuan district, Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province – when it was opened to the public.

Integrating retailing, restaurants and catering and entertainment, the complex is said to fill in a gap in region's commercial facilities – providing convenience for the employees of resident businesses in the City North Hi-Tech Zone and the thousands of people in the surrounding residential areas.

Launched in 2010, the City North Hi-Tech Zone has to date attracted over 230 scientific and technological innovation enterprises and formed a "3+1" high-tech industrial system which integrates automotive electronics, life and health, integrated circuits and the consumer-oriented internet.

Located in the jurisdiction area of the zone, the new complex is expected to become an important commercial facility to support its development.
