Rudong manufacturer boosts competitiveness by going digital
With the current boom in the digital economy, it's been widely remarked that digital transformation has become the inevitable course that enterprises must take in order for them to realize their high-quality development.
Jiangsu Rutong Petroleum Machinery Co Ltd, located in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – is a traditional manufacturer in transition. Faced with the industry revolution, it is picking up the pace of its digital transformation and is showing great initiative and vigor in its sector.
The company says its manufacturing execution system, or MES, has been connected to related management systems. As a result, its staff are able to directly access process documents and drawings of products on site and they can either initiate maintenance or give feedback online in a timely manner, according to Zhang Youhua, managing director of Rutong.

In order to meet the demand for digital production and to ensure the best use of its MES system, Rutong Machinery has optimized the layout of its workshops and upgraded its equipment.
In addition, to improve the automation level of production lines, the company says it is also committed to developing automation products. In recent years, it has increased investment in research and development.
That has yielded top results and one of its newly developed products had a 95 percent share of the domestic market last year, according to Cao Caihong, chairwoman of Rutong Machinery.
