The 2022 list of provincial key villages for rural tourism was recently announced by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Jiangsu Development & Reform Commission.
Kaisha village in Tongzhou district, which is administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, was the only village to make the list from Nantong.
With a focus on upgrading Kaisha Island into a provincial resort, Tongzhou district adheres to the development concept of "rural road + leisure tourism", and has built a raft of scenic sites featuring sports, leisure, fishing, vegetable and fruit picking, delicacies and religion.
Kaisha village is located on a small island in the Yangtze River basin, and is home to rich tourism resources like Zhouji Menghuan Island – a large botanical garden, and with complete supporting facilities and a livable environment, it has become a holiday paradise for sports enthusiasts in the Yangtze River Delta region. Over 800,000 visitors visit the area annually on average.
