Rudong county in Nantong, boasting a 106-kilometer coastline making up one-ninth of the Jiangsu province's total, is a key player in maritime fishing. Its Liubu Fishing Port, a first-class national-level fishing port, can accommodate up to 750 fishing vessels for shelter, unloading, and resupply. More than 55,000 metric tons of fish are unloaded here annually.

To ensure the freshness of the seafood and boost its market competitiveness, a new cold storage facility was established at the port in 2023. Spanning nearly 20,000 square meters, the facility allows for ice making, refrigeration, and cold chain transportation, and is capable of storing up to 5,000 tons of seafood.

Maintaining a constant temperature of -18 degrees is critical for ice making and seafood storage at the facility. At the outset of its construction, the State Grid Nantong Power Supply Company implemented a dual power supply system to ensure continuous operation.

With this year's fishing season coinciding with a heat wave, the local power company has organized regular inspections to monitor cooling equipment and ensure a reliable power supply. Additionally, a customized plan was devised based on the facility's needs, including conducting ice-making at night to reduce daytime compressor runtime and lower operating costs.
