Nantong adds over 12,000 invention patents in 2024

Nantong in Jiangsu province added 12,032 invention patents throughout the year in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 61.8 percent, ranking first in growth rate in the province.

As of the end of last year, the city had been home to 54,692 valid invention patents, ranking fourth in the province.

In 2024, Nantong commenced the construction of a national demonstration city for intellectual property rights and a national demonstration area for IP protection.

Enterprises are the leading patent applicators. Last year, Nantong initiated 13 enterprise-centered IP strategic advancement projects, focusing on the cultivation of high-value patents. Accelerating the cultivation of patent-intensive products, the city added 1,036 patented products on record in 2024, with 71 products recognized as patent-intensive products.

Established in 2019, Luohuaxin Display Technology Development (Jiangsu) Co is a rising tech company. Focusing on the core technological issues in advanced optoelectronic materials, devices, equipment, and systems, the company specializes in tackling the bottleneck technology of upstream Micro LED chips and has owned over 150 IPRs in Mini/Micro LED.

Patent-intensive industries are essential for promoting the construction of a modern industrial system and developing new productive forces, and shipbuilding and marine engineering are such one industry.

As a substantial base for China's shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, Nantong boasted a significant share of high-tech, high value-added, and special-purpose shipbuilding and marine engineering products among various shipbuilding and marine engineering products in 2024.

Nantong Taisheng Blue Island Offshore Co, one of the city's leading companies in offshore wind power equipment, has held 226 authorized domestic and foreign patents, including 77 invention patents.
