Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong in Jiangsu province, met with Kim Young-jun, consul general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, on Feb 19.

On behalf of local authorities, Wu welcomed Kim and his delegation and expressed gratitude for the consulate general's concern and support for the development of Nantong.

He said that Nantong and South Korea boast a long history of exchanges. In recent years, both sides have deepened cultural exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, and sister-city development. Currently, Nantong is seizing the opportunities of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and other national strategies to create new advantages in an open economy.

Wu added that Nantong is willing to continuously enhance friendship and mutual trust with South Korea, serving as a promoter and practitioner of friendly exchanges between China and South Korea.

He expressed hopes that both sides will share development opportunities, further broaden cooperation areas, enrich exchange methods, and achieve more results in economics, trade, culture, and tourism.

Wu is confident that Nantong will continue to create a stable, transparent, and predictable development environment, support foreign enterprises, including those from South Korea, to invest and establish businesses in Nantong, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Kim expressed gratitude for Nantong's long-term assistance to South Korean enterprises and nationals. He mentioned that Nantong has a solid industrial foundation, broad development prospects, and close economic, trade, and cultural exchanges with South Korea. The Consulate General of the Republic of South Korea in Shanghai will actively strengthen practical cooperation with Nantong in various fields and promote friendly relations between the two sides to a new level.
