Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone was built in 1992 with a planning area of 130.7 square kilometers. As the only State-level high-tech industrial development zone in Nantong, it has become one of the areas with the most investment value in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The zone has won many honorable titles such as national intellectual property demonstration park, national science and technology service industry pilot park, national postdoctoral research station, national incubator and provincial advanced development zone.
The zone takes auto parts as its leading industry and new generation information technology as its emerging industry.
As China's die-casting demonstration base, it strives to upgrade its auto aluminum die-casting for more smart and automatic operation and to expand its business in new energy vehicles' power assembly, drive disk assembly and battery packs.
The zone has spared no efforts in building an integrated circuit (IC) industrial highland featuring electronic materials, passive components, electronic circuits, integrated circuits, display devices, intelligent equipment and its supporting industry. It has introduced a batch of semiconductor material and equipment projects in chip manufacturing, IC design, compound special chips, 5G and IC substrate.

The national high-tech industrial development zone is divided into six areas: auto parts and high-end equipment manufacturing industries in the northwest, aviation industry in the west, new generation electronic information, and new energy and new materials in the south.
Its northeastern area features urban comprehensive functions, governmental services, finance and commerce, while the eastern area is Jinshawan new city, the southeastern area is a national incubator and an educational and scientific and technological innovation park.
To push the development of the IC industry, the zone's 9.5-sq-km southwest area was built for its "2+3+4" industrial layout, including IC design and manufacturing as its leading industries, IC packaging and testing, IC equipment and IC material as its support parts, and commerce and finance, intelligent logistics, educational training and habitation as its auxiliary sections.
