NETDA charity association reports record donations in 2024

On January 13, the charity association of the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) released its 2024 donation report, highlighting a record-breaking year.

In 2024, the association raised a total of 33.63 million yuan ($4.59 million) in donations and goods, with 32.64 million yuan spent on assistance programs. The charity fund now totals a record 130 million yuan. Corporate donations accounted for 68 percent of the funds, with more companies establishing dedicated charity funds.

"Six new named charity funds were established in 2024, with a total pledged amount exceeding 3.1 million yuan," said Dong Kexin, president of the charity association.

One notable contributor was Toray Sakai Weaving & Dyeing (Nantong) Co Ltd, a wholly foreign-owned enterprise in the zone. In June 2023, the company donated 300,000 yuan to set up a named charity fund dedicated to supporting residents affected by factory relocation projects.

A company representative said, "2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the development zone and the 30th anniversary of our company in Nantong. Our business has thrived here, and establishing this fund is our way of showing gratitude and support for the development zone."
