The 2025-2026 National Fencing Championship Tour (First Station for Epee) commenced on Dec 13 in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA).
This three-day event is China's highest-level fencing competition, attracting 100 teams and over 400 epee fencers from 27 provincial-level regions across China.
As the only city in Jiangsu designated as a National Olympic Reserve Talent Development partner, Nantong has a rich history in fencing.
Nantong's fencing team has contributed over 30 athletes to the national team since its establishment in 1985. Notably, Zhong Man won China's first Olympic gold medal in men's fencing in 2008, and in recent years, the city has given rise to several outstanding athletes.
