China Marine Fishery Culture Museum opened to visitors in Xiangshan county, East China's Zhejiang province on April 27, local media reported.

Situated on No 177 Yugangnan Road in Shipu town, the museum is the first of its kind in the nation and is built on an abandoned refrigeration plant that was built in the 1970s.

The plant's original pattern has basically been maintained, while several facilities, including the ice conveying tower and oil storage tanks, have been renovated, with an investment of 135 million yuan ($20.8 million).

The museum has partially restored the old appearance of fishing villages, as well as made extensive use of AR and other technologies to demonstrate the diversified marine culture in Xiangshan and China.

In addition to the museum, a marine fishery culture and creative industrial park has also been built on the old site, covering a combined area of 9,415 square meters.
