Yinzhou district in Ningbo, East china's Zhejiang province has been stepping up efforts to protect children.

Yinzhou, which is home to 220,000 children, is currently striving to become a national-level demonstration area for the protection of children.

The Yinzhou Minors Assistance and Protection League was established on Feb 21, incorporating 21 organizations. The league will cooperate with volunteer teams to offer services, including temporary guardianship, social assistance, mental care, and legal aid, to children in need, such as those without guardians or suffering from domestic violence.

Companies have also joined in the efforts.

A new fund was put aside by the local authorities and the Yinzhou Charity Federation to help children. Henghou Group, a company in Ningbo, donated 10 million yuan ($1.57 million) to the fund.

In 2021, Yinzhou set up "Children's Homes" in 366 villages and communities across the district to support left-behind children and children in need.

To date, 31 volunteer teams and more than 30,000 volunteers have participated in the assistance and protection of children.
