Digital economy conference in Ningbo sees fruitful results

The 2022 World Digital Economy Conference & 12th China Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province came to a close on Sept 4.

The three-day event, which was held both online and offline, gathered about 150 luminaries from the digital economy field, including Pan Yunhe, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Tan Jianrong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Thomas Sargent, a Nobel laureate in economics and a researcher at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and Guo Dongming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Dalian University of Technology. These experts discussed topics related to 5G, the metaverse, artificial intelligence, carbon neutrality and digital villages.

The 25,000-square-meter offline exhibition had four halls - digital economy, smart manufacturing, smart cities and information consumption, and future industries – that featured nearly 1,200 enterprises, including tech juggernauts like Huawei, Alibaba and China Telecom. 

The event also witnessed the inking of 70 investment projects which will be established in Ningbo, with a combined value of 35.8 billion yuan ($5.5 billion).

Activities such as new product releases and national innovation and venture contests were also held on the sidelines of the expo.
