Construction of all tunnels of the Jinhua-Ningbo high-speed railway has been completed, laying a solid foundation for its operation by the end of this year.

On March 18, the railway's last tunnel – the Baocun Tunnel – in Ningbo's Fenghua district was completed.

Starting from Zhangjiatan village and ending at Shenkengxin village, the 10,360-meter tunnel is the longest in the railway's section in Ningbo and the second longest for the whole line.

Construction of the high-speed railway linking the cities of Ningbo and Jinhua in Zhejiang province started in October 2019. With a maximum speed of 200 km/h, the 188-km rail line is expected to slash the travel time between the two cities to 1 hour and 29 minutes.

As the nation's first railway to transport double-layer containers, it will boost interconnectivity between China's small commodities hub Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, and China's busiest port, the Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

The railway is being built by China State Railway Group Co and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. After completion, China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co will be responsible for its operation and management.
