The city of Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was recently recognized as one of China’s safest cities, according to a list released by the China Institute of City Competiveness.
A total of 30 cities were named by the list, with Hong Kong, Macao and Qingdao ranking as the top three.
Ordos is the only city in Inner Mongolia on the list. It is the sixth time it has been honored as a “safe city”, with this year’s ranking of 18th place.
A city has to be evaluated in terms of four first-grade indicators if it aims to make the list – social, economic, ecological and information security.
All cities where a major safety incident occurred for this year cannot be considered for the honor. Therefore, cities claiming the title vary from year to year.
During the six years of the list, Ordos has maintained a steady ranking, ranking either 18th or 19th.
In recent years, the Ordos public security authorities have made great achievements in cracking down on criminal acts. Thanks to their efforts, the number of criminal cases has been decreasing by the year.
