China Coal Ordos Energy and Chemical Co Ltd --571 the country's biggest coal-to-carbamide fertilizer producer located in Uxin Banner in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- is current doing its bit in the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak, local officials said.  

They said the company was making effort to produce enough carbamide products to ensure the preparations for spring ploughing in Ordos and the surrounding areas and provinces.

Due to the current novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak which has impacted the supply of raw materials, transport and other aspects -- coupled with the proximity to spring ploughing -- the demand for fertilizer in the domestic market has increased dramatically.

The company has striven to overcome the difficulties posed by the shortage of raw materials and personnel caused by the epidemic.

Officials said it had maintained 50 percent of its plant remained operating, to ensure the use of fertilizer for spring ploughing. Recently, nearly 3,000 tons of carbamide products were being transported to all parts of the country every day.

According to a spokesman for the company, in the face of the epidemic, the company would ensure that all its plants were operating at full capacity under the strong coordination of the local government.

They said that this would ensure that the fertilizer for spring ploughing would not be affected.
