Mengxi High-tech Industrial Park (蒙西高新技术工业园区) is located at the Otog Banner, Ordos, connecting Wuhai to the south and Bayannur to the north. Across the west from Alxa League, Inner Mongolia’s important transport, namely Baotou-Lanzhou Railway and Beijing-Lhasa Highway also pass through the park. The planning area is 140 sq km with 50 sq km built so far.

It was identified as an autonomous region high-tech industrial park by the government in 2001. Recently, in line with Ordos’ planning, the park sticks to green, low carbon, ecology and environmental protection, and plans to foster and construct new chemical and metallurgy industrial bases by focusing on innovation, sustainable development and adjusting industrial structures.

The base has a complete infrastructure and can reduce and recycle waste water, gas and residue. Mengxi Park is a key park for Inner Mongolia as well as around the Yellow River and the major traffic arteries, and has been identified as a national new material transformation and industrialization demonstration park, national eco-industrial park and national sustainable economy industrial park.

The park introduced and cultivated 47 key enterprises, 20 of which are above designated size. It has formed five major industries in new chemistry, special metallurgy, energy, new high-tech materials and modern logistics. In 2015, the park achieved a total industrial output value of 26.1 billion yuan ($3.8 billion), 23.4 billion yuan in sales revenue, 11 billion yuan in fixed asset investment and 1.57 billion yuan in taxes. In 2016, the park is estimated to attain a total industrial output value of 28.6 billion yuan, 26 billion yuan in sales revenue, 14 billion yuan in fixed asset investment and 1.6 billion yuan in taxes.

In line with the needs of innovation, entrepreneurship and economic transition, the park will continue to extend industrial lines, fill in gaps, propel sustainable development and scientific progress, deepen reform and opening up and build a national innovation and high-tech industrial demonstration park.

As of 2018, the park had introduced and cultivated 57 key enterprises, 21 of which are above a designated size – meaning they have annual revenue topping 20 million yuan ($2.8 million).

It has formed five major industries in new chemistry, special metallurgy, energy, new high-tech materials and modern logistics.

In 2018, the park achieved a total industrial output value of 33.07 billion yuan ($3.8 billion), 34.03 billion yuan in sales revenue, 2.85 billion yuan in fixed asset investment and paid 2.15 billion yuan in taxes.
