Ordos brings home 13 awards from Mongolian folk dance contest

The dance performances selected by Ordos city won a total of 13 awards at the first Inner Mongolia Folk Dance Competition, which was held at Inner Mongolia Ethnic Art Theater in Hohhot, the capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Nov 8.
The competition was sponsored by the culture and tourism department of Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It aimed to promote and develop the excellent folk dance art of the autonomous region, guide and encourage the creation of more and better outstanding dance works, and cultivate creative performing talents.

This year's competition received nearly 300 works from art troupes and art colleges and universities from Inner Mongolia’s 12 leagues and cities, as well as from other autonomous regions and provinces.
The entries in the competition were all works created since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The dance pieces authentically reflected the style, characteristics and charm of Mongolian ethnic culture.
After seven days of fierce competition, Ordos stood out from the contestants and won three gold medals, nine silver medals and four bronze medals in 13 awards categories, including the "Inheritance Award," "Creation Award" and "Performance Award."
