Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region will play host to an industrial park focusing on the application of technologies related to China’s domestically developed Beidou Navigation Satellite System, according to an agreement between Ordos’ municipal government, the Institute of Wisdom Engineering of China Wisdom Engineering Association and the Zhongxing Zhilian (Beijing) Technology Co.

The contract was signed in Ordos on Nov 16.

The Beidou Smart Engineering Innovation Industrial Park project has a planned investment of 3 billion yuan ($450.11 million). It will adopt a modern industrial park development model integrating investment, construction, operation and management.

Construction of the industrial park will include the National Beidou Data Center Inner Mongolia Ordos Branch, Beidou (Inner Mongolia) Navigation Application Service Platform, Beidou Application R&D Center and Product Quality Inspection Center, Beidou Intelligent Manufacturing Base and the Beidou Talent Training and National Defense Science Education Base.

The project’s implementation will promote the demonstration and application of Beidou technology systems in vital industries such as coal, exploration integration services, 5G and other technologies.

It will also accelerate the digitalization and intelligentization of energy and chemical industries in Ordos city.
