Twenty unmanned mining trucks developed by Inner Mongolia Tiechen Intelligent Equipment Co are undergoing performance tests in Ordos city, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

“The preliminary test showed that these trucks’ performance is basically stable, while there is still room for continuous improvement,” said Cui Wenyu, director of the project preparation office of Inner Mongolia Tiechen Intelligent Equipment Co.

In addition to the research and development of new unmanned mining trucks, the company is working on renovating and upgrading old mining trucks to operate unmanned.

To date, a total of 24 trucks have been modified, and they will receive further tests at open coal mines.

The mining truck development and modification project’s total investment is 500 million yuan ($75.02 million).

When the project is completed, it will comply with the national 5G development strategy requirements, expand the smart mine and mining business and strive to become a pioneering example of the new 5G infrastructure in Ordos.

The project is scheduled to officially launch in June 2021.
