A total of six people from Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region were honored as “national model workers” and “exemplary individuals” at a gathering on Nov 24 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Ordos model workers are Wei Jianxiong, Su Ganggang, Zheng Guijie, Suya Ladalai and Zhang Jun, and the city’s exemplary individual is Su Yuping.

These nominees are from all walks of life and stand out in their positions.

National model worker and exemplary individual are honorary titles awarded by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to a person who has made significant contributions to the cause of socialist construction. 

The purpose is to promote the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labor and the Chinese working class’ great character.

The gathering on Nov 24 honored 1,689 people as national role model workers and 804 as exemplary individuals.
