People deemed at high risk of contracting the novel coronavirus in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region must be vaccinated against the disease before Spring Festival, according to information released at an emergency vaccination work deployment meeting held in Ordos’ Kangbashi district on Dec 20.

Key groups prioritized for emergency inoculation include cold chain workers, staff members at ports of entry, workers in the shipping, aviation and public transportation sectors, those working at agriculture markets, medical and disease control personnel, as well as those going abroad for work or study.

Vice-Mayor Yu Renjie of Ordos city attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Yu stated that the health department should improve the work plans for monitoring and handling abnormal vaccination reactions and medical treatment, set up vaccination sites following the accepted science and organize vaccination work in an orderly manner.

The drug regulatory authorities must strictly follow the requirements of the National Vaccine Management Law and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Vaccine Management Regulations to strengthen vaccine safety supervision and ensure the absolute safety of vaccines.

In accordance with the "Novel Coronavirus Vaccination Plan," all departments should establish a vaccination work organization, formulate a work plan, clarify the division of responsibilities and ensure efficient work.

Meanwhile, Yu required that the municipal epidemic prevention and control headquarters organize experts to help the masses understand the national vaccination arrangements and recognize possible adverse reactions.
