Otog Banner’s government recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Inner Mongolia New Energy Development Co affiliated to GD Power Development Co in Hohhot, the capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

This collaboration will focus on the strategic goal of building the Inner Mongolia New Energy Demonstration Zone and developing and utilizing the abundant solar and wind energy resources in Otog Banner in the autonomous region’s Ordos city.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), 4 million kilowatts of new energy projects with a total investment of 21 billion yuan ($3.15 billion) will be constructed in the banner, including a 2 million kWh of photovoltaic power generation project and a 2 million kWh of wind power project.

When all of these projects are fully operational, they will have an annual power generation capacity of 9.4 billion kWh.

Moving forwards, Otog Banner will further develop new energy industries such as photovoltaics and wind power.

A total of 13 new energy projects with a total investment of about 50 billion yuan will be constructed. These projects will add 8.75 million kWh of new energy power annually.

It is estimated that by 2025, the total installed capacity of Otog Banner's new energy power facilities will exceed 10 million kWh.
