Economic and social achievements of Ordos city in 2020

Ordos city released its government work report for 2020 at the fourth session of the fourth Ordos municipal people's congress on March 3. Highlights of the city's economic and social development achievements are as follows.
Pandemic prevention and control
After the COVID-19 outbreak, Ordos quickly took measures to stop the pandemic's spread and confirmed cases were cleared in 42 days.
Work and production resumption
Ordos implemented preferential relief policies for enterprises issued by the central government and the autonomous region's government.
The city launched 14 municipal-level measures to help enterprises resume work and production.
The rate of projects with an investment amount above 100 million yuan starting or resuming construction reached 94 percent.
Industry transformation and upgrading
Twenty-seven new high-tech enterprises and 22 enterprise R&D centers were established, and the added value of high-tech industries increased by 5.5 percent.
Ordos became the only national cultural and tourism consumption model city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Kangbashi district was rated as a national all-for-one tourism demonstration area.
Environmental improvement
Ordos won the title of “China's Most Ecologically Competitive City.”
The city formulated ecological protection and high-quality development plans for the Yellow River Basin and launched green mine construction regulations.
Poverty alleviation
Ordos solved safe drinking water problems for rural residents and accumulated poverty alleviation assets of 1.61 billion yuan.
A total of 3,959 poverty-stricken residents from 1,587 relocated households steadily increased their income.
Otog Banner passed the national poverty alleviation census and acceptance.
Government service items reform
Now, 11,408 government service items can be handled with one visit to a government service center.
The city built the first smart taxation hall in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
It formulated and promulgated 22 measures to further optimize the business environment.
Rural revitalization
Hanggin Banner's sunflower industry was included on the list of “National Industrial Clusters.”
Otog Banner's Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Industrial Park was selected among the first batch of modern agricultural and animal husbandry industrial parks in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Six companies and 17 products passed the green food certification.
Ordos completed the three-year action plan for renovating the human settlement environment in rural and pastoral areas.
The coverage rate of sanitary toilets reached 67 percent, and the coverage rate of collection, transportation and disposal of domestic garbage in administrative villages reached 91.3 percent.
People's livelihood improvements
The city promulgated the "Ordos City Elderly Service Regulations" and formulated the “Ordos Planning and Construction Regulations for Kindergartens, Primary and Secondary Schools.”
Ordos also built, renovated and expanded 27 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens.
It also implemented 157 traffic and municipal engineering projects.
Civilized city construction
Ordos has won the title of "National Civilized City" four consecutive times.
Hanggin Banner was honored as a "National County-level Civilized City.”
Kangbashi district was shortlisted as the "Happiest City in China.”
