Here's why Ordos is an ideal business place

Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region possesses rich natural resources, convenient transportation and a complete industrial system, making the city a good place to start a business.

Natural resources

Ordos has proven coal reserves of more than 210 billion metric tons, accounting for one-sixth of the country. The average annual output of coal mines has stabilized at more than 600 million tons, and the degree of mechanization of mining and excavation has exceeded 98 percent.

Meanwhile, the proven reserves of natural gas in Ordos city total 4.95 trillion cubic meters, accounting for one-third of the country's total reserves; and the city's reserves of shale gas total more than 10 trillion cubic meters. 

On average, 18 billion cubic meters of natural gas are delivered from Ordos to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region every year.

Also, the development potential of new energy industries such as solar energy and wind energy exceeds 20 million kilowatts.

Transportation infrastructure

Ordos is adjacent to Shanxi province, Shaanxi province and Ningxia Hui autonomous region. It is located at the intersection of Northeast China, North China and Northwest China, 600 kilometers away from the national capital Beijing.

The city's total highway mileage is 24,000 kilometers and its railway transportation network is developed, with the railway operating mileage ranking first among the country's prefecture-level cities. 

Currently, the Hohhot-Juungar Banner-Ordos Railway and the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos Railway have begun operations, and the Baotou-Xi’an High-speed Railway that will pass through Ordos city has begun its preliminary work phase.

Also, Ordos' airport is the largest civil airport in Inner Mongolia, with 49 international and domestic routes to 54 cities throughout the year.

Strong industrial foundation

Ordos has 16.39 million tons of modern coal chemical production capacity, 23.3 million kilowatts of installed electricity capacity and 2.7 million kilowatts of installed new energy capacity.

It is among the first batch of national industrial transformation and upgrading demonstration zones, an important national clean energy output base, one of the country's 14 large-scale coal bases, nine large-scale coal power bases and four modern coal chemical industry demonstration zones.

Meanwhile, Ordos has 17 industrial parks with a built-up area of 343 square kilometers, with 1,724 industrial enterprises settling in the industrial parks and a total of 1.01 trillion yuan in fixed-asset investment.

In 2020, Ordos released goals to achieve a regional GDP of 353.37 billion yuan and general public budget revenue of 46.49 billion yuan. The per capita disposable incomes of urban and rural residents are expected to increase by 1.1 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively.
