Xiaotanzi village in Juungar Banner, Ordos has become a new popular travel destination due to its ecological agricultural demonstration park.

Xiaotanzi village is located on the silt land of the Yellow River. It used to be an abandoned farm area and saline-alkali land.

Through cooperation with Ningxia Guangyin Rice Industry Co, Xiaotanzi village adopted national patented technology for rice-fishing-water circulation system to build an agricultural demonstration park in October 2020.

The park has turned its former wasteland into both a fertile rice field and a comprehensive breeding facility for fish, ducks, and crabs.

According to the existing patented model of water cycle, it will save about 30 percent on water compared with the traditional model of water-growing rice.

In addition, paddy fields provide sufficient breeding space and food for fish, ducks, and crabs.

It is conducive to the integration and improvement of land income, and promotes the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

In addition, rice paddy paintings in Xiaotanzi village's fields attract tourists, bringing in more income for local villagers through sightseeing, accommodation, and dining.
