The Unit 1 and Unit 2 generators of the Zhujiaping power plant officially began operating on Oct 15.

The newly-established Zhujiaping power plant is located in Juungar Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and invested by Guangdong Pearl River Investment Group.

The project received approval to start construction on Aug 15, 2017.

It is one of four coal-fired power optimization projects approved for the UHV transmission channel from West Inner Mongolia to Tianjin South. Its planned total installed capacity is 3,320 MW, and will cost around 14 billion yuan ($2.10 billion) in total to build.

The power plant is expected to have an annual on-grid power of 6.2 billion kWh, and generate an annual output value of nearly 1.8 billion yuan. It will contribute about 200 million yuan in taxes annually, and create nearly 1,000 new jobs for locals.

It not only plays an important role in ensuring a stable supply of electricity in North China and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, but also is of great importance to improving the modern energy economy and promoting high-quality economic development.
