Ordos city calls for more key investment projects

To improve the business environment and boost the economy, the city of Ordos -- in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- issued a policy document calling for more key investment projects in the current year in specified areas and offering various assistance to those that qualify.

The projects that qualify reportedly should be in line with the city's development goals during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the city's key industry development plans and national industrial policies and macro-control requirements.

It is understood that they should also qualify for requirements for the regional industrial layout, overall urban planning, land use planning, as well as for the city's environmental protection.

Ordos will reportedly focus on the introduction of projects in the fields of green coal mining, large-scale coal power output and high-end coal chemical industry upgrades. It will also focus on fossil energy and renewable resources, the intelligent energy industry, the ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin, as well as projects for the development of the Hohhot-Baotou-Yulin-Ordos city group.

Develop modern energy economy

Projects will help develop a modern energy economy. These will include the upgrading of national coal supply bases, the green transformation and upgrading of coal-fired power, the development and utilization of natural gas, the new energy industry, the hydrogen energy industry, solar and wind energy and the modern coal chemicals industry.

Transform, upgrade traditional industries

The projects will include a manufacturing hub for green metallurgy and building materials, expanding the supply chain for the ceramics industry, a production and marketing hub for world-class cashmere, as well as the production and processing of organic agricultural and livestock products.

Cultivate, develop emerging industries

The projects would include new energy vehicles, energy chemical equipment, new materials, medicine and health, energy conservation and environmental protection, electronics information, and future industries.

Promote quality, efficiency of modern services industry

They will include projects for the specialized development of the productive services industry, the refined and high-quality development of the life services industry and the innovative development of service-oriented manufacturing.

Strengthen digital economy

The projects will include the big data core industries and industrial digital transformation.
