Ordos traditional costumes, on behalf of the exhibits of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have been attracting much attention at an exhibition on weaving, embroidery, printing and dyeing techniques listed as intangible cultural heritage items.

The exhibition has the tagline "inheritance and innovation to create a splendid world," and officially kicked off in the city of Haikou in South China's Hainan province on June 28.

The exhibited traditional costumes of Ordos, including four seasons robes, waistcoats, headgear hangings and leather boots, boast distinctive features and exquisite craftsmanship and demonstrate strong artistic value.

Visitors can listen to explanations by exhibitors, learn about the culture surrounding the costumes, exchange snuff bottles, and try out salutes and other communication etiquettes.

The exhibition gave visitors the chance to experience the unique culture and history of Ordos.

Additionally, a working symposium on the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage was held during the exhibition.

Zhao Ziyi, director of the Ordos culture and tourism bureau, attended the symposium and talked about the protection of intangible cultural heritage items in Ordos and related exhibitions with participating experts.
