The Eighth National Ethnic Folk Performance is scheduled to take place in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 3-7.

During the performance, a series of fine arts with Chinese cultural heritage that has combined the cultural characteristics of various ethnic groups and modern civilization will be staged.

Famous folk artists from all over the country will be invited to perform at the opening and closing ceremonies and organize special performances.

This year's performance has been in the preparatory stage since March and has collected 131 outstanding national folk artworks from across the country.

A total of 34 items have been selected for the performance.

The National Ethnic Group Folk Art Performance is jointly sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the National Ethnic Affairs Committee, the China Folk Artists Association and other units. It is an important brand project of the China Folk Artist Association.

It has been held seven times since the first event was held in Inner Mongolia's capital city Hohhot in 1993.

It has helped preserve excellent traditional Chinese culture, promoted the development and prosperity of the literary and artistic undertakings of ethnic groups, and enriched the cultural lives of the masses.
