The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is exploring a high-quality development path oriented to ecological priorities and green development.
It is taking actions to boost the rapid development of the city's new energy industry and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the traditional energy industry.
Ordos focuses on the strategic positioning of building itself into an important national energy base and a national strategic resource base, and regards new energy as the main direction of energy structure adjustment.
So far, Ordos has built 4.14 million kilowatts of new energy installed capacity, and new energy projects with a total installed capacity of 15.26 million kW are under construction.
By 2025, the city's new energy installed capacity is expected to exceed 50 million kW, and new energy will account for more than 50 percent of the city's installed power capacity.
In the same period, the total output value of Ordos' wind power, solar power, hydrogen and new energy-driven vehicle industries will exceed 500 billion yuan.
In terms of traditional energy upgrading, Ordos will focus on the high-end, diversified and refined development of its coal chemical industry, accelerate the layout of major industrial chains of coal-based fuels, coal-based chemicals and coal-based new materials, and energy green transformation, and continuously increase the added value of products and reduce energy and water consumption.
By 2025, the city's coal chemical production capacity is expected to exceed 25 million metric tons, all production capacity below the energy efficiency benchmark value is expected to be eliminated, and unit energy consumption and water consumption are all expected to reach the national advanced value.
