Ordos welcomes global talent to support city development

"We sincerely hope that all kinds of talent will come to Ordos and start businesses here," said Li Li, Party secretary of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, at the opening ceremony of the 10th Inner Mongolia "Grassland Talent" High-end Talent Cooperation Conference and the Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week in Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Ulaanqab that took place on Sept 3.

At the conference, Ordos hired Wu Qiang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as the dean of the Inner Mongolia Research Institute of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), hired Wei Fei, a professor of Tsinghua University, as the director of the Ordos Laboratory, and issued the Ordos Municipal Government Distinguished Scientific and Technological Consultant Certificate to 13 academicians.

Meanwhile, Ordos signed the Carbon Neutral Collaborative Innovation Special Cooperation Project agreement with Tsinghua University, signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation project agreement with Liaoning University of Engineering and Technology, and signed a Postdoctoral Innovation Research Base Cooperation Project agreement with China University of Mining and Technology.

Li said that Ordos is now seeing a period of promising historical opportunities and a golden period for the development of entrepreneurship.

In recent years, Ordos has implemented a three-year action driven by talent and technological innovation, issued 30 new policies for talent and 30 new policies for science and technology, and formulated 13 supporting policies and special support policies.

This year, nearly 1 billion yuan ($150.04 million) in financial science and technology funds will be allocated to build a talent policy system with strong investment and full coverage.

So far, Ordos has brought in 97 high-end talents, increasing both the quantity and quality of its talent.
