During this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday on Sept 10-12, the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was a hit destination, with hordes of visitors drawn there.
Over a three-day period, a total of 513,400 tourists came to the city, generating 218 million yuan ($32.71 million) in tourism revenue.
Of that, the number of overnight tourist stays in Ordos during the break reached 208,000.
This year, Dongsheng district, Dalad Banner and Juungar Banner ranked top among Ordos' districts and banners in terms of tourism popularity. The visits were mainly short-distance affairs due to the lingering impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

As the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Teacher's Day fell on the same day this year, free or discount tickets to a number of top scenic spots in Ordos were provided to teachers to give thanks for their educational efforts.
Scenic spots offering such services included the Juungar Yellow River Grand Canyon, Ordos Wildlife Park, Genghis Khan's Mausoleum and the Qixinghu Desert Ecological Tourism Area.
